unearthered by MacRumors.com, describes technology to integrate
solar cells into portable devices. The named inventors of
the patent application are Apple employees, some of whom are
iPod engineers. The
rapid growth of power-hungry portable electronic devices such
as mobile phones, portable media players (PMPs), laptops,
digital cameras, digital video cameras, portable DVD players
and portable game consoles is boosting the power bank manufacturing
industries in mainland China and Taiwan. With rising demand
for batteries able to support the power consumption requirements
of new products and battery supply across Greater China growing
at a slower pace of 10 percent annually, a growing number
of manufacturers are looking to power banks as an alternative
