Palomar College has teamed up with the local San Diego Chapter of the IPC Designers Council, a professional, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the Printed Circuit Board Design profession and Altium to bring a higher level of Printed Circuit Design Education to the San Diego area. Palomar College uses the IPC standards and specifications in our classroom curriculum. We use Altium Designer 6 software as our high end CAD design tool to help prepare our students for whatever challenges they may encounter in the printed circuit electronics design marketplace.
Palomar College recognizes the need for printed circuit design students to know and use sophisticated hardware and software tools and to know and use the IPC Standards in their future careers as electronics design professionals. The next generation of electronics products will demand much higher standards of electronics knowledge and proper application of those industry standards to be competitive in the today's world markets. Palomar Community College, the IPC Designers Council and Altium are providing the means to train those future designers, being prepared to face these challenges in a rapidly changing electronics marketplace. They will be designing and building the circuits used in our cell phones, computers, appliances, weapons, aircraft, space vehicles, satellites, calculators, televisions, stereos, and new products we haven't even imagined yet. Future PCB Designers need to be familiar with many diverse disciplines in order to be successful in the Printed Circuit Board design field. New technology is being employed, including impedance controlled circuits, high speed logic, RF circuits, microwave, military and aerospace electronics, medical electronics, high volume consumer and telecommunications products. All of these sub-categories in the PCB design field drive student education needs to much higher levels. These related industries have urgent need of highly skilled professional PCB Designers working in their companies to help develop the products that industries' customers use and depend on. Palomar College is dedicated to providing the expert training needed to get these students a head start in this excellent career path. The IPC Designers Council and Altium are helping us to make it a reality, now!
